Background & Responsibilities

Funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the AFAWA project seeks to empower women-led businesses (WEBs) and women employees in ETG's agribusiness supply chains through training, employability improvement, financial inclusion, and market linkages.

The Project Accountant will handle financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, audit preparation, multi-country project accounting, and foreign currency management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree and/or CPA or ACCA certification is an advantage.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in project accounting or financial management of donor-funded programmes (experience with AfDB, World Bank, or similar institutions preferred).
  • Skills: Strong skills in financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and audit preparation; proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; a working knowledge of Portuguese or Swahili is an advantage.
  • Other Requirements: High level of integrity, accuracy, attention to detail, and a willingness to travel to project implementation sites across the four countries as needed.
