Hey everyone! If you are looking to advance your education with a fully funded Master's degree somewhere else in East Africa, this is a massive opportunity you don't want to miss.

The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), in partnership with the Federal Republic of Germany and KfW, has officially launched Cohort 4 of the EAC Scholarship Programme. Up to 120 scholarships are available for this cohort, aiming to build the next generation of leaders across the region under the theme "Leadership to Foster Regional Integration."

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

This is a comprehensive, fully funded package that takes care of almost everything so you can focus entirely on your studies:

  • Air Travel: One return economy-class air ticket between your home country and the host country.
  • Arrival Allowance: EUR 200 upon arrival to help settle down and open a bank account.
  • Living Stipend: A monthly allowance of EUR 380 for accommodation, food, local transport, and other daily expenses.
  • Study Materials: A lump-sum grant of EUR 650.
  • Research Allowance: A one-time allowance of EUR 1,500 for your study and research.
  • Insurance & Fees: Medical insurance coverage for the duration of the scholarship, plus visa/entry fee assistance if required.

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

Before you get too excited, make sure you meet these essential rules:

  1. Nationality: You must be a citizen of an EAC Partner State: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, United Republic of Tanzania, or Uganda.
  2. Age Limit: You must be below 35 years of age at the time of application.
  3. The "Study Abroad" Rule: You must apply to study in an EAC Partner State other than your country of citizenship. (For example, if you are Tanzanian, you must choose a university in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, etc.).
  4. Academic Qualifications: Hold a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division, Distinction, or equivalent.
  5. Inclusion Focus: Female applicants, persons with disabilities, and applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. The program aims for at least 50% female participation.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Applying for this scholarship requires a two-part process. Don't skip a step, or your application won't be considered!

Part A: Apply for Admission to the University

  1. Choose Your Course: Look through the eligible Master's programmes list across partner universities in the EAC region (such as universities in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania).
  2. Review University Requirements: Visit the website of your chosen university to check their specific admission criteria.
  3. Apply for Admission: Submit your application for admission directly to the university, making sure to indicate your intention to apply for the EAC Scholarship Programme. (Note: Pay any applicable university application fees required by the institution).

Part B: Apply for the EAC Scholarship

  1. Complete the Online Scholarship Form: Fill out the official EAC Scholarship application form online at KoboToolbox Application Link.
  2. Gather Your Documents: Prepare your supporting documents in PDF format and compile them into a single zipped folder. Mandatory documents include:
    • E01: National ID or Passport
    • E02: Passport-size photograph (colour, full head and upper shoulders)
    • E03: Proof of University admission application (admission letter, acknowledgement email, receipt, or portal screenshot)
    • E04: Bachelor’s Degree Certificate and Transcripts (with certified English translations if originally in another language)
    • Optional supporting documents (CV, recommendation letters, academic transcripts, etc.) can be included to strengthen your application.
  3. Name Your Files Correctly: Name each file using the format: [Document Code] [Document Name], for example: E01 National ID.
  4. Submit via Email: Send your zipped folder via email to eacsp@iucea.org and scholarships@adroitconsultinternational.com.
  5. Email Subject Line Format: Your email subject must strictly follow this format: [Applicant Name] – Application for [Master's Programme] at [University] – Phase II EACSP (e.g., Tsavo Simba – Application for MBA at Adroit University – Phase II EACSP).

Important Dates to Remember

  • Opening Date: 20th August 2026
  • Closing Date: 10th September 2026 (17:00 hours EAT)
  • Selection & Announcement: Successful candidates will be communicated to in December 2026.
