About the Company & Role
Mogo's mission is to enable upward social mobility by providing asset financing, fintech, AI-based underwriting, and proprietary car portals to entrepreneurs excluded from traditional banking systems (such as motorcycle taxi riders, Uber/Bolt drivers, and small business owners).
The Financial Controller will help achieve regional financial efficiency by building and owning the Tanzania country finance function largely from scratch. The role involves owning monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting, standing up robust accounting procedures, managing auditors and tax authorities, and integrating the country into Eleving Group’s financial ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish robust accounting and financial procedures and processes to ensure effective financial and accounting reporting.
- Own monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Partner with local and regional stakeholders, providing financial insights and analysis to guide commercial and operational decision-making.
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax authorities, and other financial partners.
- Collaborate closely with the regional HQ finance team to ensure smooth integration into Eleving Group’s financial ecosystem.
- Lead initiatives to drive accounting and financial improvements.
- Monitor adherence to local regulations and international accounting standards, proactively mitigating financial risks.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Higher education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Experience: Previous experience in the fields of finance, business administration, project management, and similar.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of IFRS accounting principles (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow), advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with financial software and databases.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, proficiency in English, and a can-do attitude with an ownership mindset.
