Job Summary

The Accountant will support day-to-day financial operations in a high-volume fuel and lubricants business. Primary focus areas include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, bank and ledger reconciliations, transaction processing, statutory return filings, and fuel/lubricant sales reconciliations under proper financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Receivable & Payable: Prepare customer invoices, monitor outstanding balances, manage credit limits, follow up on collections, and process supplier invoices with statement reconciliations.
  • Reconciliations & Controls: Perform daily/weekly/monthly bank reconciliations, resolve reconciling items promptly, and reconcile fuel/lubricant sales, deliveries, and customer invoices.
  • Financial Reporting & Closing: Record daily accounting transactions, assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, and prepare routine financial schedules and reports.
  • Statutory Compliance & Audits: Support preparation of VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory returns, and assist with audit requirements by providing requested documentation.
  • Record Keeping & Filing: Maintain physical and digital filing systems for invoices, payment vouchers, delivery notes, and bank documents.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Professional Qualifications: CPA/ACCA or a relevant professional accounting qualification is an added advantage.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in trading, fuel, lubricants, distribution, logistics, FMCG, or another high-volume business environment.
  • Technical Skills: Experience using accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Xero) and strong Microsoft Excel skills for large volumes of data.
  • Tax & Statutory Knowledge: Good understanding of Tanzanian tax laws and statutory accounting requirements.
  • Selection Process Note: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a practical accounting assessment evaluating technical knowledge, accuracy, Excel skills, and problem-solving ability.
