Job Summary

Reporting to the Financial Manager and working closely with the Financial Accountant, the Accountant will manage daily financial accounting, banking reconciliations, working capital, debtors/creditors age analysis, fixed asset management, and month-end journal entries. This role offers broad commercial accounting exposure in a rapidly growing industrial enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Invoicing & Accounts Receivable: Prepare monthly customer invoices, manage billing schedules, track debtor accounts, and compile debtors' age analysis.
  • Payments & Accounts Payable: Process local and foreign supplier payments, manage creditors' age analysis, and reconcile supplier accounts.
  • Banking & Fixed Assets: Reconcile bank accounts, manage credit card and petty cash transactions, maintain the fixed asset register, process depreciation journals, and administer capex requests.
  • Month-End & Financial Controls: Prepare accruals, provisions, and month-end journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, maintain supporting schedules, and drive process improvements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional Qualifications: Holding or nearing qualification for SAIPA (PA SA), AGA (SA), CGMA, or CIMA is highly advantageous. Completed or nearly completed accounting articles (especially within an accounting practice) is preferred.
  • Experience: 3–4 years of practical experience in month-end accounting, bank reconciliations, journals, and working capital management.
  • Technical Skills: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and practical experience with ERP or modern accounting software.
  • Work Arrangement: Must be willing and able to work permanently on-site in Elsies River, Cape Town.
