Job Summary

The Accountant will support day-to-day accounting, inventory tracking, statutory tax compliance, and financial management for a mining enterprise. The role focuses on maintaining accurate books of accounts, performing reconciliations, monitoring stock movements, tracking import landed costs, and ensuring full adherence to Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Books of Accounts & Reconciliations: Maintain accurate books, record sales/purchases/expenses, and perform bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations.
  • Taxation & Compliance: Prepare statutory tax returns (VAT, PAYE, SDL, WHT) and ensure full compliance with TRA filing deadlines and audit documentation.
  • Stock & Inventory Control: Monitor stock accounting, reconcile physical inventory with records, and coordinate with warehouse/operations teams for stock movement entries.
  • Cost Tracking & Invoicing: Track costs for imports, allocate landed costs, manage supplier payments, issue customer invoices, and follow up on aged receivables.
  • Systems & Internal Controls: Maintain financial data in Tally or other accounting software, ensuring high data accuracy and supporting process improvements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional Qualifications: Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of accounting or finance experience (with 8+ years preferred in a similar corporate/industrial role).
  • Technical Skills: Prior experience using Tally accounting software is highly preferred. Strong understanding of Tanzanian tax laws, statutory requirements, and import cost tracking.
  • Core Competencies: High accuracy, numerical skills, ability to work independently, strong integrity, and confidentiality.
