Job Summary

The Junior Accountant will assist the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, handling day-to-day transactions, performing bank reconciliations, managing general ledger journal entries, supporting payroll processing/statutory remittances, and ensuring strict adherence to GAAP and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Accounting & Ledgers: Prepare and process daily financial transactions, post journal entries, update the general ledger, and maintain organized accounting documentation.
  • Reconciliations & Payables/Receivables: Reconcile bank statements and company accounts; process customer invoices, payments, receipts, and expense claims; support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Payroll, Tax & Audit: Support payroll processing and statutory remittances; monitor petty cash balances; assist in budget preparation and audit exercises.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of accounting experience (relevant internship or NYSC experience will be considered).
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Accounting Standards: Solid understanding of GAAP, the accounting cycle, and basic financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement).
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, high integrity, and a commitment to accuracy.
