Vivo Energy is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of Accounting Intern based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

General Ledger (GL) Management

  • Accurately pack Journal Vouchers (JVs) and debit/credit notes.
  • Verify if vendor invoices are posted correctly in SAP.
  • Perform vendor clearing, allocation, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain an updated lease tracker indicating expected rental payment dates.
  • Follow up to ensure invoices are submitted to the finance department on time.

Staff Accounts Management

  • Monitor and follow up on staff outstanding balances.
  • Share the monthly staff outstanding balances report.

Vendor Payments

  • Maintain an accurate tracker of vendor payments.
  • Ensure vendor payment requests have complete approvals, required supporting documents, and are posted in the system before initiating payments.
  • Ensure vendor payments (including LCs), government payments, bank charges, and interbank transfers are posted within 24 hours.
  • Handle the posting of GEPG payments.
  • Ensure all payments are processed through MBTI with no manual vendor payments processed.

Month-End Closure Activities

  • Obtain bank statements, review, and process all monthly account management fees in the GL.
  • Check all bank GL accounts against bank statements to ensure all bank payment transactions are posted.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting periodic physical inventory counts and fixed asset verification.
  • Ensure all payment documents are orderly filed.
  • Complete any tasks allocated by the GL Accountant, Financial Controller, or Finance Manager.
  • Support the bank reconciliation process in the absence of the AP Contractor.
