Job Purpose & Responsibilities

As a Strategic Business Partner and Deputy for the Head of Office, the incumbent leads for results, drives change, provides risk-informed and solution-focused analysis, and contributes to programme and management decisions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Office Management & Leadership: Support the Head of Office in managing the office, act as Officer in Charge in their absence, and serve as a member of the Country and Senior Management Teams.
  • Operations Support Management: Manage services in budget, financial management and reporting, facilities management, administration, supply and logistics management, information and communications technology (ICT), and safety and security.
  • Strategic Planning & Value for Money: Provide key contributions to the CPD, CPMP, and AMP using Value for Money (VfM) criteria, and leverage technology for results and programme accountabilities.
  • Audit & Risk Management: Support the country office during internal and external audit reviews, respond to audit observations, monitor the implementation of recommendations, and oversee business transactions processed by GSSC with a focus on efficiency, risk management, and fraud prevention.
  • Humanitarian & Emergency Contexts: Ensure offices are fit for purpose to enable timely delivery of humanitarian assistance in compliance with the Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: An Advanced University Degree (Master’s or higher) in Business Management, Financial Management, Accounting, Public Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Information Technology, International Business, Project Management, or a related operations function is required. Alternatively, a full professional accounting designation (CA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CPFA, Expert Comptable) with valid membership in good standing is required.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience at the national and international level in advocating and implementing strategic organizational initiatives across operations management areas (budget, financial management, facilities, admin, supply/logistics, ICT, HR) is required.
  • Additional Desired Experience: Experience in humanitarian settings, development sector/UN/international NGOs, corporate ERPs, and IPSAS is highly desirable. Experience in Results Based Management is mandatory.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
