Job Purpose & Responsibilities

The Finance Manager assists the CFO in performing the functions of the Finance Department and Corporate Secretariat office to support statutory compliance and ensure smooth departmental operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Reporting & Audits: Prepare annual financial statements, tax returns, and regulatory returns; oversee the external audit process and manage the finance team across all branches.
  • Accounting Systems & Compliance: Manage accounting systems, ensure financial data integrity, and establish and monitor finance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Operational Finance: Influence behavior for continuous improvement in areas such as claim payments, expense payments, RI payments, cash receipts, commission payments, bank/RI reconciliations, and WIP management.
  • Tax & Statutory Filings: Prepare TRA and statutory returns for timely submission and ensure full compliance with accounting and tax-related regulations.
  • Risk & Relationship Management: Identify departmental risk areas for timely mitigation and manage relationships and budgets with external service providers including tax, audit, and banking.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Insurance & Banking, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Certification: CPA (Tanzania) Qualification is compulsory.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a finance role, preferably with an audit practice background and experience managing a finance function in a fast-moving, rapidly growing environment.
  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical, communication, and influencing skills, strategic thinking capabilities, and familiarity with financial reporting requirements and the Tanzania tax regime.
