Exim Bank Tanzania is seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Manager - Syndications & Debt Advisory.

  • Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
  • Hours of Work: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday); 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Saturdays), or as per individual branch working hours

Job Purpose

To lead the development, management, and optimization of transaction banking products and services—including cash management, payments, collections, and liquidity solutions—while driving revenue growth, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining full regulatory compliance. The role supports the Bank’s Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) strategy through innovative, client-focused transaction solutions.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Deal Origination & Structuring

  • Support origination teams in identifying transactions suitable for syndication.
  • Structure financing solutions aligned with client requirements and bank risk appetite.
  • Advise relationship managers and credit teams on optimal syndication strategy.
  • Participate in mandate negotiations and appointments as Lead Arranger, Mandated Lead Arranger (MLA), Bookrunner, and Facility Agent.

2. Syndication Execution

  • Prepare syndication strategy, including hold level and sell-down targets.
  • Develop Information Memorandum (IM), teaser materials, and lender presentations.
  • Coordinate lender invitations, roadshows, and bank meetings.
  • Manage book-building processes and allocation of commitments.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with participant banks.

3. Distribution & Investor Management

  • Maintain relationships with local, regional, and international banks, DFIs, and institutional lenders.
  • Market syndicated opportunities to potential participants.
  • Monitor market liquidity, pricing trends, and lender appetite.
  • Ensure successful sell-down to achieve capital optimization objectives.

4. Documentation & Closing

  • Work closely with Legal, Credit, and Compliance teams on facility documentation.
  • Coordinate signing and financial close processes.
  • Ensure alignment between syndication terms and approved credit structure.
  • Support appointment and transition to Facility/Agent Bank where applicable.

5. Portfolio & Risk Management

  • Monitor retained exposure versus approved hold levels.
  • Execute secondary sell-downs where required.
  • Support portfolio diversification and limit management.
  • Provide market intelligence on syndicated loan performance.

6. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as liaison between Relationship Management teams, Credit & Risk, Legal, Treasury, and Participating Banks.
  • Ensure smooth communication throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Qualification & Experience Required

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional Qualifications: CFA, ACCA, or MBA are advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5–8 years' experience in Loan Syndications, Structured Finance, Project Finance, or Corporate Banking.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of credit analysis and loan documentation, with hands-on experience in product development and financial modeling.
