Job Summary
The Accountant Intern will support the Finance Department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, monitoring budgets, and ensuring that all financial transactions comply with TAI's Financial Regulations and approved procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts and financial records.
- Process payments and prepare payment vouchers in line with approved procedures, checking supporting documents, budget codes, and fund availability.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
- Maintain the petty cash book and ensure proper support for all petty cash transactions.
- Process and monitor staff imprests and prepare monthly reports on outstanding imprests.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as well as project and organizational budgets.
- Record and properly code all financial transactions and support payroll preparation with the HR Department.
- Verify invoices, maintain proper filing and safe custody of financial documents, and support internal and external audits.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional Qualifications: Professional accounting qualification or relevant progress toward one is an added advantage.
- Experience: At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an NGO or donor-funded organization.
- Technical Skills: Good knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, budgeting, and bank reconciliation; experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Competencies: Strong attention to detail, integrity, confidentiality, good organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to work independently.
