Job Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing cash and supplier payments, and ensuring full statutory and tax compliance in a high-volume, fast-paced operational environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong internal controls and high accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management & Petty Cash: Maintain accurate books of accounts and general ledger, prepare monthly management accounts, process payments, and support budgeting and cash flow management.
  • Creditors Management: Maintain accurate creditors ledgers, verify and post supplier invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and apply withholding tax accurately.
  • Tax & Statutory Compliance: Prepare and file VAT, PAYE, WHT, and Corporation Tax returns using the KRA iTax system, while ensuring full compliance with NSSF, SHA, and Housing Levy.
  • Systems & Internal Controls: Post transactions accurately in accounting software and maintain strong internal controls over cash and payments.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional Qualifications: CPA (K) Section II or III (CPA III preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 to 6 years of accounting experience, preferably in high-volume, transaction-heavy environments (export agriculture experience is an added advantage).
  • Skills: Strong practical knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, KRA iTax system, excellent Excel skills, high integrity, and strong attention to detail.
