Job Summary

The Assistant Accountant is responsible for the reconciliation of clients’ accounts and ensuring that queries from intermediaries are promptly resolved. The role focuses on cash flow management, premium collections, commission processing, and credit control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cash Flow & Accounts Management: Monitor customer accounts daily, enforce the "cash before cover" policy, handle premium collections, and allocate daily receipts.
  • Reconciliations: Reconcile intermediary balances ensuring no unreconciled balances exceed 30 days, and send out monthly reconciliation statements by the 10th of every month.
  • Commissions & Claims Verification: Ensure all commission reports are reconciled and paid by the first week of every month, and verify premium payments within 24 hours before processing claims.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Liaise daily with underwriters on unallocated funds, and work closely with claims, sales, and management accountant teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related options.
  • Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of insurance regulatory requirements (TIRA) and Britam products.
