Job Summary

The Financial Controller is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and enhancing financial governance within the bank, supporting sustainable business growth, and promoting excellence in all finance-related activities. The role demands expert technical knowledge, strong leadership, and an ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end-to-end financial accounting processes to deliver statutory, regulatory, and internal management reports in strict adherence to IFRS, local regulations, and Group policies.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance a comprehensive financial control framework to safeguard reporting quality and transparency.
  • Collaborate with Group Tax and stakeholders to execute tax strategies that ensure compliance and optimize the bank's tax position.
  • Oversee control over capital adequacy, liquidity management, funding, balance sheet, and market risk parameters.
  • Partner with the Country Treasurer in preparing and securing Board and regulatory approvals for the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP).
  • Direct the external audit relationship, defining scope, coordinating deliverables, and driving governance standards.
  • Lead annual budgeting and long-term financial planning cycles to support strategic business directions.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial performance reports and regulatory compliance summaries to senior leadership and Board committees.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Professional Qualifications: Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Education: Relevant degree in Business, Accountancy, Finance, or an MBA.
  • Experience: Extensive proven experience in managing complex regulatory financial reporting frameworks and banking capital structures.
  • Technical Competence: Familiarity with IFRS, local banking regulatory frameworks, tax strategies, and practical experience with financial systems and controls.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, analytical mindset, and exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities.
