Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will oversee accounting operations and support financial management activities by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, strengthening internal controls, supervising the accounting team, and ensuring compliance with statutory and financial reporting requirements. Experience within the hospitality, retail, entertainment, or service industry is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee the General Ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and assist in preparing annual financial statements.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring financial records and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.
- Review daily cash reconciliations, monitor cash collections and deposits, oversee bank reconciliations, and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Monitor outstanding accounts receivable, follow up on corporate, event, and sponsorship receivables, and prepare debtor aging reports.
- Supervise supplier account reconciliations, review payment schedules, and verify balances before payment processing.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and departmental performance reporting.
- Monitor compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory obligations.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the Payables Accountant and Cashiers.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional Certification: CPA (T), ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a senior accounting position with previous staff supervision experience. Experience in hospitality, retail, entertainment, or service industries is an added advantage.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger management, reconciliations, budgeting, financial controls, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
