Job Summary

The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, maintain general ledgers, execute statutory tax compliance (VAT, PAYE), perform financial variance analysis, coordinate internal/external audits, and manage accounts payable and receivable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate profit & loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, budgets, and financial forecasts in compliance with standard accounting practices.
  • General Ledger & Reconciliations: Maintain general ledger accounts, post journal entries, and perform regular bank, accounts payable, and accounts receivable reconciliations.
  • Taxation & Statutory Compliance: File monthly VAT, PAYE, and statutory obligations with local tax authorities (KRA) and assist during tax audits.
  • Payables, Receivables & Credit Control: Manage invoice payments, monitor customer credit limits, pursue outstanding receivables, and maintain vendor relations.
  • Internal Controls & Audit Coordination: Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and prepare documentation for internal and external audits.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Certification: Full qualification in CPA (K) or ACCA is required.
  • Experience: 4–5 years of progressive professional experience in an accounting role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Core Competencies: High analytical accuracy, detail orientation, problem-solving skills, and effective interpersonal communication.
