Job Summary

The Accountant will manage financial and operational accounting activities for a manufacturing plant. The role spans processing local and expatriate payroll, preparing TRA statutory returns, managing stock and production orders, facilitating HR/work permit logistics, maintaining supplier reconciliations, and overseeing petty cash and premise maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial & Statutory Compliance: Prepare monthly, half-yearly, and annual tax returns (PAYE, SDL, VAT, NSSF, WCF); respond to TRA queries and coordinate with auditors.
  • Payroll & Expatriate Management: Handle cash withdrawals, process salary payments for local and expatriate staff, manage portal registrations (NSSF, PAYE, WCF), and process business visas and work permits for expatriates.
  • Production & Inventory Accounting: Post production orders, track inventory management, conduct physical stock counts, track scrap disposal, reconcile discrepancies, and track consumables usage.
  • Operations & Supplier Management: Reconcile supplier payments, manage petty cash, oversee machinery/facility maintenance, and manage insurance claims.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of professional accounting experience, with hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations.
  • Technical Skills: Strong grasp of accounting principles, tax regulations, mathematical analysis, and computer proficiency.
  • Core Competencies: High attention to detail, accuracy with large numerical datasets, strong verbal and written communication, and multitasking capability under tight deadlines.
