Job Summary
The Finance Analyst supports the effective stewardship of UK public funds across the British High Commission Tanzania's programme and operational budgets. Working to the Head of Finance, the role provides accurate analysis, management information, and practical financial support to budget holders, programme teams, and corporate colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across programme and operational budgets, working with budget holders to maintain realistic, evidence-based forecasts.
- Management Information & Reporting: Produce timely, accurate, and insightful management information; analyze movements between budgets, forecasts, and actual expenditure; and explain material variances and risks.
- Financial Integrity & Controls: Maintain the integrity of financial data, supporting month-end, year-end, and in-year processes including journals, accruals, prepayments, and budget transfers.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory: Act as a first point of contact for routine finance queries, building constructive relationships with programme, policy, and corporate teams to promote value for money.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, reporting, or supporting effective resource management (including ODA-funded activity).
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of accounting principles such as accruals, prepayments, journals, and variance analysis.
- Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills, ability to build working relationships, and confidence using Microsoft Excel.
- Professional Development: Working towards, or willingness to work towards, a recognised professional finance qualification (CCAB, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Required Behaviours: Communicating and Influencing, Delivering at Pace, Managing a Quality Service, and Working Together.
