Job Summary

The Temporary Finance & Reconciliations Accountant will focus on complex, high-volume reconciliations, balance sheet clean-up, and audit preparation ahead of upcoming FY2026 statutory audits. Working closely with Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Operations teams, the role owns wallet balance reconciliations, tax GL-to-return matching, transfer pricing intercompany reconciliations, and general balance sheet substantiation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wallet Reconciliations: Perform historical and current reconciliations of customer wallet balances against general ledger accounts and operational MNO data.
  • Tax GL-to-Return Reconciliations: Reconcile tax balances (VAT, Withholding Tax, local statutory taxes) recorded in the general ledger against filed returns across assigned markets.
  • Transfer Pricing & Intercompany Matching: Execute transfer pricing reconciliations for entities operating under local invoicing arrangements.
  • Audit Preparation & PBC: Build and maintain complete audit schedules, working papers, and supporting documentation required for FY2026 statutory audits and the Q1 2027 audit cycle.
  • Balance Sheet Substantiation: Perform month-end and year-end balance sheet substantiation, actively driving down aged or unsupported items.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on accounting or finance experience with a proven track record in balance sheet reconciliations, tax matching, and general ledger maintenance. Experience within fintech, payments, banking, financial services, or audit environments handling high-volume transactional data.
  • Education & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce. Progress toward or completion of CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification is an advantage.
  • Skills & Competencies: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (data manipulation, complex lookups, reconciliation formulas, and pivot tables). Strong analytical rigor and an investigative mindset focused on root causes.
  • Location: Candidates must be based in Nairobi (Kenya) or Tanzania.
