Job Summary

As the commercial finance partner to the Country Manager and Leadership Team, the Financial Controller will hold full P&L accountability for the English-Speaking Africa Cluster. The role encompasses business planning, financial forecasting, performance management, resource allocation, and governance across multiple African markets. The executive will also drive digital finance transformations and leverage automation and AI-enabled financial tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Business Partnering: Serve as a key advisor to the Country Manager and cluster executives to drive financial strategy, resource allocation, investment evaluations, and profitable business growth.
  • Financial Planning & Performance: Lead FP&A activities, including business planning, rolling forecasts, variance analysis, cluster performance reporting, and country-level P&L accountability.
  • Governance, IFRS & Internal Controls: Oversee strict adherence to IFRS, statutory reporting, corporate governance, treasury management, and risk mitigation frameworks.
  • Digital & AI Transformation: Lead automation initiatives and champion digital finance solutions to improve forecasting precision and process efficiency.
  • People Leadership: Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing cluster finance team in a matrix organizational structure.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is essential.
  • Professional Qualifications: Full professional accounting designation such as CA(SA), CIMA, ACCAs, CPA, ACA, CMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 10–15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience within multinational organizations.
    • Minimum of 5 years in a people manager role.
    • Proven experience with full P&L accountability across a country, cluster, or regional market.
    • Industry experience in Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, FMCG, or Medical Devices is preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of IFRS, cross-functional commercial finance, matrix stakeholder management, and experience with AI/digital automation tools.
