Job Summary

The purpose of the role is to perform bank reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are followed up on and resolved in a timely manner. The Reconciliation Accountant maintains accurate financial records, performs month-end and year-end closing tasks, handles daily bank accounting entries, and monitors daily collections (ACB).

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations, follow up on outstanding reconciling items, and ensure timely resolution to support accurate accounting records.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Execute period-end closing activities within assigned deadlines to facilitate smooth audit processes.
  • Accounting & Bank Operations: Process accounting journal entries accurately; capture, reconcile, and clear daily bank accounting activities timeously.
  • ACB Monitoring & Collections: Monitor daily collections, action all collection processes, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Query Resolution: Log and resolve financial queries within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: NQF Level 6 – Diploma in Accounting required (NQF Level 7 – Degree in Accounting is advantageous).
  • Language Skills: Professional fluency/proficiency in French.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience performing accounting reconciliations.
  • Technical Systems: SAP FI module experience is required.
  • Preferred Experience: Practical background with bank, customer, vendor, or general ledger (GL) reconciliations.
  • Working Conditions: Willingness to work overtime during month-end and year-end close periods.
