Job Summary
The Finance Manager will oversee the organization's financial management function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, regulatory compliance, and effective utilization of financial resources within a microfinance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Analysis: Oversee daily financial operations including disbursements, repayments, collections, and invoicing, while monitoring financial performance and analyzing loan portfolio performance and quality.
- Financial Reporting & Budgeting: Prepare and review accurate daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports covering cash position and loan portfolio performance in alignment with approved budgets.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure strong internal financial controls, monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, and assess financial, credit-related, and liquidity risks.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement: Lead, mentor, and manage the finance team, collaborate with other departments, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration is an added advantage.
- Professional Qualifications: Professional qualification such as CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent is required.
- Experience: At least 5–8 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role. Experience within microfinance, banking, SACCOs, or other lending institutions is preferred.
- Core Competencies: Strong understanding of microfinance operations, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and proven leadership capabilities.
