Job Purpose & Responsibilities

The Accountant will support accounting and financial management activities, focusing on maintaining accurate records, ensuring statutory compliance, and managing financial operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Records & Reconciliations: Maintain accurate books of accounts, record and reconcile financial transactions (sales, purchases, expenses, bank transactions), and perform bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations.
  • Statutory Compliance & Audits: Prepare statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, SDL, WHT), ensure compliance with TRA regulations and deadlines, and assist in preparing documents for audits and tax assessments.
  • Inventory & Cost Control: Monitor stock accounting, reconcile physical inventory with accounting records, coordinate stock movement entries, and assist in cost tracking for imports and landed cost allocation.
  • Payables, Receivables & Systems: Manage supplier payments and customer invoicing, follow up on receivables, maintain aging reports, and keep records in Tally or other accounting software.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Core Skills: Prior experience using Tally accounting software is highly preferred. Must possess a strong understanding of Tanzanian tax and statutory requirements, strong analytical skills, and high attention to detail.
