  • Team Supervision: Manages a team of three and reports directly to the Head of Finance.

Key Responsibilities & Breakdown

Financial Management & Oversight (30%)

  • Provide day-to-day leadership of the finance function, ensuring effective implementation of financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage, coach, and develop finance team members (including the Finance Coordinator and Finance Officer) to strengthen technical capability and accountability.
  • Act as a key Finance business partner to Implementation, Operations, and Budget Managers, offering timely financial guidance for programme planning.
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), NGO regulations, and statutory financial requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Group Finance team on regional accounting requirements, deliverables, and systems.

Financial Reporting (30%)

  • Prepare and analyze accurate monthly financial and management reports, including income statements, balance sheets, budget vs. variance, projections, forecasts, and cash flows.
  • Keep the monthly budget balances report up to date and share it with budget holders.
  • Coordinate the preparation of audited financial statements and all tax returns.

Financial Control & Accounting (20%)

  • Ensure all financial transactions are processed accurately and timely through QuickBooks in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, revenue and expenses, fixed assets, cash, bank reconciliations, and allocations.
  • Perform month-end closing procedures, account reconciliations, and schedule updates while maintaining an orderly filing system.

Budget Management (20%)

  • Collaborate with budget managers by sharing budgets, providing clarity, and supporting periodic budget preparation and updates.
  • Ensure Budget vs. Actual (BVA) reports are prepared, explained, and shared monthly/quarterly with budget holders.
  • Offer periodic training to teams to improve financial management, discipline, and accountability.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Commerce.
  • Professional Certification: Must be a Member of CPA (T) through the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) in good standing.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of finance and accounting experience (including audit, analysis, and reporting) within a non-profit environment.
  • Managerial Experience: 3 to 5 years leading finance teams and cross-functional collaborations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and QuickBooks.
  • Core Competencies: High level of integrity, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, strategic thinking, and excellent communication.
