Job Purpose & Responsibilities
The Grant Accountant is responsible for project budgeting, financial reporting for donor grants and sponsorship, KPI reporting, cost recovery monitoring, and corporate financial system management in SAP. Key responsibilities include:
- System & Data Management: Oversee grant data entry into SAP, monitor project setup, review corporate Grants Monitoring reports, and develop tools to ensure quality, timely submissions for decision-making.
- Budgeting & Planning: Collaborate with the Head of Finance on new grant proposals to ensure full costing, participate in annual budgeting, and track approved budgets against system setups.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare donor financial reports, Budget vs. Actuals (BvA), Cost Centre, and Commitment reports; analyze income received from donors and ensure nil outstanding commitments prior to project closure.
- Cost Recovery & Governance: Analyze cost recovery for shared and apportioned costs, advise teams to ensure fair administrative cost allocation across projects, and enhance organization-wide cost recovery awareness.
- Project Lifecycle & Audit Support: Facilitate project start-ups and closures with National Offices, participate in compliance meetings, and prepare reliable supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in grant accounting, project financial management, or financial reporting within non-profit/charitable organizations.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP (data entry, mapping, and commitment tracking).
- Core Competencies: Deep understanding of donor compliance, cost recovery models, BvA analysis, audit preparation, and grant lifecycle management.
