Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-Day Financial Processing: Process routine financial transactions including supplier invoices, receipts, and payment requests.
  • Bookkeeping & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate physical and digital financial records under established document control standards.
  • Petty Cash & Bank Reconciliations: Manage petty cash replenishment and support monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Payroll & HR Coordination: Assist with payroll inputs including working hours, leave, and allowances in coordination with HR.
  • Tax & Statutory Support: Assist with VAT and withholding tax documentation, and coordinate routine administrative filings with relevant statutory authorities.
  • Asset & Expense Management: Maintain the fixed asset register and process employee expense claims.
  • Audit & Month-End Support: Support month-end closing activities (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations) and prepare schedules for audits.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in bookkeeping, junior accounting, or finance administration (1–3 years preferred).
  • Local Knowledge: Previous experience working within Tanzania and familiarity with local accounting practices and Zanzibar’s tax/statutory environment is a strong advantage.
  • Software Skills: Exposure to accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or Sage is preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Communication: Fluent in both English and Swahili with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Core Competencies: High level of numerical accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and time management skills.
