Job Summary

The Chief Accountant will oversee accounting operations and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and aligned with accounting standards. Operating as a finance leader, this role helps shape and implement the company’s overall accounting strategy, ensures complete legal and fiscal compliance, and builds a well-structured, high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cash Flow & Working Capital Management: Plan cash flow to ensure expenses are paid on time and within budget, oversee receivables, payables, and inventory controls in Odoo, and maintain accurate cost allocations.
  • Taxation & Statutory Compliance: Oversee tax obligations in Kenya, manage the timely preparation and submission of returns per the KRA calendar, handle tax audits, and maintain complete tax records.
  • Accounting Operations & Controls: Manage day-to-day accounting in line with IFRS, lead statutory audits, safeguard company assets, and support monthly stock-takes.
  • Process Improvement: Maintain Odoo system data integrity, lead automation initiatives to reduce transaction times, and document processes for training.
  • Team Management: Coach and mentor team members, conduct regular performance reviews, and support individual development plans.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Professional Qualifications: CPA-K or an equivalent professional qualification in Finance/Accounting.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in a finance and accounting department, featuring ledger and cash flow management, multinational work experience, and strong leadership/team management skills.
  • Skills: Experience with ERP systems (Odoo is an added advantage), compliance focus, strong communication skills, and high attention to detail.
