Job Summary

The Site Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining all financial and accounting activities at the project site. The role ensures accurate transaction recording, effective cost control, compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and project budgets, while providing timely financial information to support project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Financial Management: Process and record site-related transactions including invoices, petty cash, supplier payments, and staff advances while maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
  • Budget Monitoring & Cost Control: Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets, track costs, provide cost analysis reports, and report budget variances or financial risks.
  • Petty Cash & Cash Flow Management: Manage site petty cash in line with company procedures, conduct regular reconciliations, and maintain adequate controls to safeguard assets.
  • Procurement & Supplier Management: Verify purchase requisitions, orders, delivery notes, and supplier invoices prior to payment processing, and coordinate with teams for accurate documentation.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly site financial reports, cost reports, and expenditure summaries for management review.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure adherence to company financial procedures, statutory requirements, VAT, withholding tax, and support internal and external audits.
  • Inventory & Asset Management: Maintain records of site assets, tools, and materials, and support periodic stock counts and verifications.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field. A CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, engineering, infrastructure, or project-based environments.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles, construction/project accounting, proficiency in ERP software and Microsoft Excel, and strong analytical and organizational skills.
