Job Summary

The Accountant will support accounting and financial management activities by maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, managing accounting processes, and supporting financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Books & Records: Maintain accurate books of accounts in accordance with accounting standards and company policies. Record and reconcile all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, expenses, and bank transactions.
  • Reconciliations: Perform bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations.
  • Taxation & Compliance: Prepare statutory returns including VAT, PAYE, SDL, WHT, and other applicable taxes. Ensure compliance with TRA regulations and filing deadlines, and assist in preparing documents for audits and tax assessments.
  • Inventory & Import Costing: Monitor stock accounting, reconcile physical inventory with accounting records, coordinate with warehouse and operations teams for stock movement entries, and assist in cost tracking for imports and landed cost allocation.
  • Payables & Receivables: Manage supplier payments, customer invoicing, follow up on receivables, maintain aging reports, and verify supporting documents for payments and expenses.
  • System Management: Maintain accounting records using Tally or other accounting software to ensure proper data entry, system accuracy, and support improvements in internal controls.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional Qualifications: Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Skills: Prior experience using Tally accounting software is highly preferred. Strong understanding of Tanzanian tax and statutory requirements, strong analytical and numerical skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail, good organizational and time management skills, ability to work independently, and strong integrity.
